ArcGIS Online Administration - Important Considerations
/As highlighted in this Esri blog article, it is the responsibility of the customer to manage the content and users within their ArcGIS Online organisation. In particular, customers should ensure that that they have the appropriate staff available to administer the organisation at all times.
We would advise customers to implement the following best practice measures:
Where feasible configure a secondary administrator for your ArcGIS Online organisation
Prior to your designated Administrator leaving your organisation set up a new Administrator
If your organisation does not have enough seats then please raise a Technical Support case, requesting to have a Temporary seat added to your account to allow for the transfer.
Have both an SSO Admin account AND a Built-in Admin account. So, if you encounter a problem logging in using SSO, you can still use the built-in account through www.arcgis.com. Refer to The Benefits of using Enterprise Logins for ArcGIS Online, for further guidance.
What happens if you do not have an available ArcGIS Online Administrator?
If your ArcGIS Online Administrator is no longer available, Esri can help setup a new Administrator but only if there is no other option. In order to ensure the security of your ArcGIS Online organisation is not compromised, customers must exhaust all avenues to gain access to the account as detailed within the article Unable to change your ArcGIS Online Organization's Default Administrator.
The last resort is to raise a Technical Support Case with Esri UK (or your local distributor) to request an Administrator Change. Esri Technical Support will complete several additional checks, which may result in a Letter of Authorisation being required. Please Note, the Letter of Authorization has specific requirements as detailed within the above article.
