LocatorHub retirement reminder
/Esri UK would like to remind all our customers that LocatorHub is retiring on 31st December 2023, please see our previous article LocatorHub is Retiring.
The decision to retire LocatorHub has been driven by a number of factors including updates to the core ArcGIS technology; enhancements to the UK Data Loader to provide support to build locators from AddressBase and AddressBase Core; LLPG/CAG; the inclusion of the OS Places API in the Public Sector Geospatial Agreement (PSGA) agreement and the release of our connector to the OS Places API; and our partners providing additional functionality for wider address management needs.
See the product lifecycle for more information.
We have identified a number of possible migration routes for our LocatorHub customers, each of which brings additional capability and the potential to lower Total Cost of Ownership compared to maintaining LocatorHub as a separate application. The migration route you choose will depend on your existing software estate, the specific workflows and address sources you use within LocatorHub. It is not necessary to choose only one of these solutions, you may decide to combine them together to get exactly what you need.
The migration routes we recommend are:
From LocatorHub to the World Geocoding Service hosted in ArcGIS Online or on premise
This option is recommended when you need simple map searching or geocoding where rooftop accuracy is not required
From LocatorHub to ArcGIS Enterprise, using ArcGIS Locators built using ArcGIS Pro with the UK Data Loader
This option is recommended when the OS Places API or World Geocoder do not meet your needs. Allows for batch geocoding and single address searches against locators created using UK Data Loader (using the tools or pre-built by Esri UK)
From LocatorHub to the free Esri UK locators (this includes OS Code-Point Open postcode locator, OS Open Names Locator and BNG Locator
This option is recommended when you want to do batch geocoding or simple address searches against OS Code-Point, OS Open Names or British National Grid.
From LocatorHub to a partner solution which supports the ArcGIS REST API, such as
OS Places API (using the Connector for OS Places API by Esri UK)
This option is recommended when you have a PSGA and want the ability to search for single addresses within the UK
Idox’s Aligned Assets Gazetteer Management System
This option is recommended when you require a more complete address management solution
For the most up to date information about our addressing solutions see the GB addressing page which talks about each of these options.
We have shared more information on this in our recent webinar. A recording of this is available here.
